Daniel Silveira and Matheus Pereira have been developing a joint artistic project since 2022, strongly inspired by Brazilian culture, traditional peoples, ancestry, and nature. Self-taught artists born in Búzios, they explore multiple languages and techniques such as embroidery, painting, sewing, sculpture, and installation, always bringing to light the richness of popular knowledge and collective memory.
This artwork celebrates the strength and beauty of Bahian women on festive days, especially during the celebrations of February 2nd, a date dedicated to Iemanjá. The canvas combines acrylic painting with textile elements, embroidery, patchwork, reed straw, shells, and beads, resulting in a work overflowing with symbolism and texture.
The Bahian woman, depicted in her traditional lace and cloth attire, carries a basket filled with flowers and leaves on her head, a symbol of abundance, faith, and cultural resistance. The presence of fish, birds, and shells references the sea and elements of nature that connect directly with Afro-Brazilian rituals, religiosity, and ancestry.
The work is an invitation to delve into the tradition, spirituality, and aesthetic beauty of Brazilian culture, translated through the sensitive and poetic gaze of the artists.
