HANDCRAFTED INDIGENOUS WOODEN MASK — PATAXÓ ETHNIC GROUP

This decorative mask is a piece of profound symbolic and historical significance, celebrating the mastery of national craftsmanship. The indigenous Pataxó ethnic group represents the resistance of ancestral culture. Residing in different villages in southern Bahia, with Barra Velha being the oldest — existing for over two and a half centuries —, the indigenous people of the Patxohã language and their varied body paintings are the inspiration for this work sculpted and carved from natural wood.

Marked by the use of yellow, red, and black, traditional colors of the culture obtained from natural sources such as clay, urucu, and jenipapo, the artistic painting of Curral da Cor highlights the symbolism that connects each graphic detail to a feeling, social condition, or ritual. At 22cm high, this wall mask brings the concept of rustic luxury into your home, serving as a focal point of color and cultural identity that values handmade work and the preservation of the traditions of Brazil's indigenous peoples.
