Both the wooden mask sculpture and the colorful artistic painting – specialties of the Minas Gerais-based atelier in Prados-MG – exhibit characteristics intrinsic to the cultures of different African ethnic groups, highlighting the aesthetics of the ritualistic accessory as a distinctive element.
By elevating a mask on a fixed metal stand, artisans from Minas Gerais highlight the artistic value of the wooden artwork in interior decoration.
