Trio of White Monks of Justice

0516

The basis of the Buddhist arts is the connection with the Buddha's teachings.
Colors, shapes and iconography are created in beautiful sculptures to convey the essence and values that characterize Buddhism. And so this famous trio of wise monks or blind, deaf and dumb Buddhas is constituted.

The principle that guides the meaning of the monks of justice comes from a Japanese proverb connected with the fable of the three wise monkeys - Mizaru (blind or covers the eyes), Kikazaru (deaf or covers the ears) and Iwazaru (mute or covers the ears). the mouth). Together they symbolize “see no evil”, “hear no evil” and “speak no evil”, in order to convey the message: perceive the evil in yourself and transform it. Only then will he know how to welcome the other and see the divine in each one.

When carved in white marble, the monks of justice reinforce the positive and peaceful message in the decoration.
