The Om (Ohm or Aum) is one of the most important spiritual symbols found in ancient Hindu texts. It represents the sacred sound or sound of the universe, which unifies by being present in all that exists. The vocalization of the mantra and/or the presence of the Om symbol energize the chakras, especially the frontal and crown ones, favoring access to the divine self.

The symbol is made with a combination of three curves, a semicircle and a dot that represent the waking state (the A sound and the bottom curve), the dream state (the U sound and the middle curve), the deep sleep (the M sound and the upper curve), the state of consciousness (the dot symbolizing Turiya) and the illusion (the semicircle symbolizing Maya). The latter separates the dot curves, representing the obstacles to accessing the elevation of consciousness.
