The Kayapó wooden mask is a decorative object developed by the artists of Curral da Cor with the aim of enhancing environments and showcasing the beauty of Brazilian indigenous cultures. The Minas Gerais-based workshop, located in Prados-MG, has established itself within the Kayapó indigenous group, who inhabit the tributaries of the Xingu River, on the border between Mato Grosso and Pará, to uniquely color this carved wooden art.
The colorful facial painting with genipap and urucu, along with the feather art accessories represented on the decorative mask, reveals ritualistic traits of the Brazilian ethnic group and the cultural richness linked to ancestral native traditions. The handcrafted work also has a special shine due to the wax and gloss finish that protects the piece for longer and makes it a highlight in wall decoration.
Overall dimensions of the piece:
Height 34cm x Width 16cm x Depth 7cm
Dimensions of the mask only:
Height 22cm x Width 16cm
