Kayapó Indian Wood Mask

CR583-58

The Kayapó wooden mask is a decorative object developed by the artists of Curral da Cor in order to enhance environments and disseminate the beauty of Brazilian indigenous cultures. The atelier from Minas Gerais located in Prados-Mg, was inspired by the Kayapó indigenous ethnic group that inhabits the tributaries of the Xingu River, on the border between Mato Grosso and Pará, to uniquely color this art in carved wood. The colorful face painting with jenipapo and annatto together with the feather art accessories represented on the decorative mask reveal ritualistic traits of this Brazilian ethnic group and the cultural richness linked to native ancestral traditions. The handcrafted work also has a special shine due to the wax and gloss finish that protects the piece for longer and makes it stand out in the wall decoration.
